Hi everyone, Just found this website when researching a new to me canoe I found marked "FREE" in someone's yard today.
We had a canoe when I was younger and I have so many fond memories of trips with my Dad in that old thing. Sadly, it was passed on to someone else years ago and until today I have been canoe-less!

Happy to be back on my way to the water and happy to have found a good resource here!

Thanks for having me!
Mike

Welcome to the site and thanks for joining in. Free canoes are a great way to get people hooked and are WAY better than free candy from an unmarked van. From your avatar, it looks like you may already have effective bear deterrent available.

What canoe are you starting out with? (fair warning: it [hopefully] will not be your last... we love when others share our addiction)

Here's the picture after I picked it up. I haven't had the chance to take any more yet. Based on the serial number and a small amount of internet research it's a Canadian Canoe Company canoe. 13' circa 1985. Its in shockingly good shape for its age and really just needs a good cleaning!

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm really looking forward to cleaning this up and getting out on the water with it. Now, I just need some paddles!

its the "Great Canadian Canoe Company"

I understand, Great Canadian sold canoes from a number of different Canadian builders and was founded in 1969. They went out of business in 1999. Their 1981 catalog at the link below may interest you.
