my dump cakes use the commercial mixes that don't need eggs and are stupid easy...
all you do is grease the dutch oven with shortening or ghee, dump in a couple of cups of rehydrated fruit with the liquid and some sugar (couple of teaspoons) to make a syrup, dump the dry mix on top, add whatever else the mix requires except water, make a donut- shaped well and dump in a can of your favourite soft drink- I use sprite for white or golden cake and coke for chocolate, bake on slow heat, until your knife blade comes out clean, garnish with your favourite topping and eat, a huge favourite is my black forest clone- a couple of cups of rehydrated cherries, a fudge cake mix, a can of coke, and after baking throw on the shavings from a bar of dark chocolate, a few extra cherries, and add a layer of whipped cream from one of those non-refrigerated cans before serving.
it's not the lightest thing to carry but neither is the dutch oven, but the biggest problem is that it never seems to make quite enough no matter the size of the crowd...
