Anybody participate in the Ely Marathon this year? I don’t think I can complain about a portage ever again. How about an 8,390 rod portage, no thanks.

Two runners tried to make the 16.5 mile Kenduskeag Stream Canoe Race in Bangor, Maine a very long portage many years ago and were disqualified.

That's crazy. I was just thinking how terrible that would be on a windy day when they showed him getting blow around in the wind.

That full marathon is just nuts!
And I wonder if the Ausable race had a staggered start. Also surprised that there weren’t more collisions and swampings.

If I recall there are sprints (on the water) ahead of the race to determine starting position. They then line up, two by two (I think), downtown on main street for the mass start.
