Tell me about this divinycell stuff. I am considering making something that has curves in 2 planes. Would a 3” X 3” piece 1/8 inch divinycell conform to a 6” diameter ball?

I’ve experimented with heat forming 1/8” H80 and it can take compound curves
not sure if it can make that tight of a compound shape though
i am guessing that’s just an example? I can’t imagine where in a canoe build you might have such a tight compound shape
in any case a full 4’ x 8’ piece is $55 cheap enough for experimentation

Thanks Stripperguy. Your answer begs more questions.
1 How hot do you need to get it to form it?
2 Can it be bent into shape then heated or does it need to be hot before bending?

If it helps at all this video briefly shows them heating and forming foam at Wenonah:

Diab has data sheets and published methods for working with their H80
IIRC you need 212F for the foam to flow
mild cold bends are ok but go too far and it will break
heat first then bend
i used a quartz infrared work light that worked pretty well
Heated plattens, heated molds, full immersion tanks would be better, but not really practical for a backyard build...

Thanks for the information. Went for a paddle today so will be busy with summer stuff but next winter I may need to buy some and experiment.
