Chestnut Cruiser 16'

Robin, have you ever read the book When The Chestnut Was In Flower by Roger MacGregor? It's about the history of the Chestnut Canoe Co.

Nice post and a great job on the canoe.

Is the Chestnut decal a self adhesive sticker or a real decal. I have a Chestnut I'm about to restore and all I can find is a sticker and looking for a decal.

You can get the 'water slide" decal from the WCHA store, which is where I got mine. The Wooden Canoe Heritage Association is the place to go for restoration information.

Thanks for the post, Robin. I've been following Dick Persson's blog for a while. He's the go to guy around here for canoe history and a real master at restoration.

For another Chestnut story under restoration, check out this post by Andre Cloutier of Ravenwood Canoe in Burlington, ON. Andre is the WCHA chapter head for Canada and he scored a major find with a pre-1921 fire Chestnut Cruiser. He's slowly restoring it. Here's the link...
