A few friends and I were planning on visiting Lows and camping at Hitchens Pond but upon arrival they were working on the dam and access was closed for two or so weeks. My backup plan was to visit Cedar River Flow since I hadn't been and it's an hour less driving. The winds and rain kept us at camp for most the weekend but we had a good time hanging out and exploring the local forest.

I'm looking forward to returning in the spring and paddling deep into the flow and chasing trout.

GreenFrog - I already said my peace over on the Bushcraft forum so I won't go any further. Bottom line, I appreciate you sharing your adventures with us but I'd rather not see your wood gathering style. As you yourself say in the closing of your signature above, "Please - Leave Places Better Than You Found (and I'm guessing the last word is Them). Harvesting of dead standing trees just doesn't reach your goal. Sorry...

That's all for now. Take care and until next time...be well.

I hear you. Thanks for checking in with me on that.
I'm now aware that only "dead & down" wood is allowed to be harvested and standing dead wood is not.

Interesting to go back and check some wood processing videos including from members here and see that they actually are processing fallen trees.

To All - GreenFrog and I have already had this "conversation" via another forum but I want to thank him for his understanding of my comments. I realize that he wants to do what's best for the environment and I appreciate his openness to my previous criticism. If we could always have this sort of interaction or exchange I don't think we'd be going through contentious elections like we're doing today. Here's hope for the future. Thanks GreenFrog!

Yeah, nice photos. I see where you were camping from the view of Manbury...no mistaking that profile!
A nice trip is to continue upstream from the Flow to the Carry lean to, then carry to Cedar Lakes.

Perfect use of a cold handle frying pan!!!

I've been studying the map of the area, it's so full of possibilities - thanks for the trip idea.
Might even do a hike along the the NPT trail in the area.

Just taught a 1 day outdoor adventure camp for kids and made them pancakes and grilled cheese on the pan. Maybe we should start a thread - Pictures of meals cooked outside on a cold handle pan.
