Yes, although the air will be darn cold.

But won't the water be frozen? No, not if the water is salty enough.

What water? How about the ocean? Nah, it's only about 3.5% salt and we all know it freezes at about 29° F (-2° C). So we better find some really salty lakes.

How about the Great Salt Lake or the Dead Sea, you say. Unfortunately, while the Great Salt Lake varies between 5% and 27% salinity and the Dead Sea is about 34% saline, it is not nearly cold enough in Utah or Israel for the air to reach -58° F (-50° C). But there is one lake on Earth that meets the salinity and temperature criteria.

It's Don Juan Pond.

What continent is Don Juan Pond on? If you think North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa or Australia, you are wrong.

Don Juan Pond, the world saltiest water body at 44% salinity, is in the Wright Valley of Antarctica, and it doesn't freeze even when the valley reaches -58° F (-50° C).

I don't like cold, but I fully expect one of our chionophile members to lead a trip there during the Antarctic winter. I do have some recommendations for that trip. however. Bring very flat bottom canoes, use wooden poles instead of paddles, and forget your life jackets. Don Juan Pond is only four inches (10 cm) deep.

Hahaha, content like this is one of the things I love about this site. Looks like $110k would be enough to get you and a paddle craft into the valley.
