Bears and Meals

When I went to Algonquin back in June, I put my Bear Vault in a dry sack and hung it from a high branch on the downhill side of the tree.

I guess that's the "belt and suspenders" way of doing it.

I usually bring a decent sized cooler on raft and driftboat trips The coolers are heavy so they stay in the boats. The boats are typically touching shore and moored to the beach. Bears do not seem to figure that those coolers in the boats because they are surrounded by water. Never had a problem with a cooler.
