Hope it’s been a good spring for paddling for everyone. I’ve posted a write up on my trip up through Fassett Lake out of Kiosk back in May. I really enjoyed this route, even Fassett Creek was much better than I expected. Here’s the link:

Thanks Drew for that highly entertaining trip report! I have also eyed that upper portion of the Park, though I've thought of a longer trip- approaching via Mink, Mouse, Erables, Maple, Three Mile, and Biggar Lakes before heading north of Manitou. I've read several of your trip reports on your site, and thoroughly enjoy your writers 'voice'. I got the distinct impression though, and I could be wrong, that you didn't/don't enjoy the bugs....

On another note, you mentioned your Opeongo Aerial 1 hammock/tent. Do you like it? Sleep well in it? And does it handle stormy weather well? I've been thinking seriously about buying one.

Thanks Patrick! To be honest, I’m fine with bugs for the most part. But ever since that trip in early June 2018 I mentioned in the write up I’ve been terrified of not having enough bug gear in case they’re terrible. Usually I don’t even bother with the bug jacket, but these days I’ve always got one packed just in case.

As for the aerial tent, I love it. Most comfortable sleep I’ve had camping. That said, the thunderstorm on night two of this trip was the worst weather I’ve experienced in it, and it wasn’t a bad storm. I’d still be worried about it in a really big wind.

One thing, I’m about 5’11 and I pretty much fill it from one end to the other. If you’re much taller it might feel tight.

Thanks for posting the trip, very entertaining and North Tea and Manitou are favourites of mine.

When you mentioned the 2 portages from Manitou to North Tea, taking the longer one with the falls was the smart choice. The other one is much steeper and a lot of sloping flat stones, I would say you likely dodged the bullet there.

Thanks! And that's good to know. I've done the 585 a couple of time now on the assumption that waterfalls are better than no waterfalls. Glad to hear there are other reasons for it as well.

Also, the falls are a really nice shower .... if haven't gone on down, you really need to next time.
