No Title Oops! Forgot the pictures...

This project was inspired by another thread on this forum. I should have taken more pictures along the way, but I didn't. I made the forms to mirror the hull on the stripper. I'm not even close to being done, but here are a few pictures.

So... I hated to do it, but I jumped ship! I pulled the forms and I have decided to finish out the stripper! I must say that it feels good to see it right side up! Now for the fun part....

I know I am not very experienced in this type of build, but I have a couple things that I'm assuming. 1: more fabric means more resin consumption 2: more resin means more weight 3: foam core adds rigidity but also creates more potential for failure during a collision with unseen hard object 4...

SG, That's a good one, there is certainly a lot of that on this forum!

I have only owned 2 rigid tools one was a compressor and the sander. The compressor had a short life as well. I have not used my sander very much compared to the one it replaced. I think they should have stuck with making pipe wrenches and plumbing tools.

Jim, I have the same RO sander that is in one of your pictures. I'm thinking mine is on its way out. Acts kinda strange when I turn it on. Have you had any problems with yours? I recall a post somewhere, not sure who it was, about having issues with a rigid sander. On another note, has anyone...

No worries Jim. I want to build a solo as well, but I think that will have to wait until next winter. I don't think the boss lady will let me build another until then. If I don't hurry up I will still be working on these two next winter!

So I scrapped the mess of Kevlar that was meant to be a boat. I am not regretting it at all. The epoxy that I put around the edges to make the Kevlar stick to the mold stayed on the Dacron....not a good sign. That Kevlar gained almost no rigidity from the epoxy! I have some tune up to the Dacron...

That's going to be a beautiful boat! I'm looking forward to seeing some good pictures when you finish!

Jim, Once again, thanks for the encouragement! I'm definitely not giving up! Adapt and overcome! The guy I talked to at express composites today thought there wasn't much reason to put glass over Kevlar, but even at this point, the two layers of 4 oz made the test plaque at least 30% more...
