Small project that should prove useful for my most common paddling partner.

My dad's not really a paddler, but he's always been a good sport, and come out with me for short durations, as long as there's a chance of some fishing. However, he's always been uncomfortable in a canoe. After a bit of conversation, we finally worked out the specific reasons: Lower back hurts & can't sit straight without back support. Hip joints hurt if not sitting straight. He also can't stretch his legs forward if not sitting straight.

Previous experiments with both "Crazy Creek"ish support slings and an inclined backrest on the canoe seat ended in failure.

Then I realized that the rails of my adjustable front seat support frame (Attached to This build and detailed Here - starts mid-thread when I actually started building) had space for a seat from the family powerboat. Some puttering around the shop and the scrap pile, and voila:

It pins in just a couple of minutes, and fits nicely in the back of the vehicle for transport. I'm really liking the modular rail system: Those rails have so many uses!

It also successfully allowed us to fish until we ran out of daylight.
