New Swift Cirrus 14.6

Last Friday I took delivery of a 2026 Swift Cirrus 14.6 in carbon fusion with the crimson tint, matching float tanks, carbon foot bar and basalt innegra interior. The boat weighs in at 27.2#'s. Now I just need winter to die:p

When I test paddled this boat back in June both kneeling and sitting I found it very stable yet responsive. To me this boat feels like a mix of the Wildfire and Phoenix with just a bit more hull speed. My intention for this boat is my so called "Everyday boat" that is why I wanted it in the sub 30# range. My life has changed a bit and I'm more likely to day paddle right now than do tripping. Below are the specs from the Swift site:

  • Length: 14'6"
  • Gunwale Width: 27"
  • Maximum Width: 30"
  • Waterline Width: 26.5"
  • Centre Depth: 12.5"
  • Bow Height: 18.5"
  • Stern Height: 16.5"
  • Bow Rocker: 2.5"
  • Stern Rocker: 2"
That is a beauty, and Swift sure knows how to make em!! Enjoy.

Savage River offers light Textreme in various colors. It is a lighter fabric than regular Textreme and the fibers are dyed to get the colors. For both of those reasons, Savage River recommends an outer skin of S-glass. As a result, this layup is very expensive and may be a pound heavier than a regular Textreme layup.
There's a rumor that Savage River has a mold for the "Grand Illusion" - a 14.5' upscale of the 13.5' Illusion - this would be one heck of an alluring boat, if only I could ever afford one!

I honestly don't know for sure, but I've spoken to Ben Diller at Savage River recently and did not get the impression that they yet have such a mold.
