Frustrated

Due to circumstances beyond my control, including 2 graduations, one from college and one from high school, along with some dental issues, I haven't been able to take any trips yet this summer. This is a major bummer.

Thanks for listening to me whine.

Hi Ho and away we go! Just signed up on your site! I'm one of the many homeless refugees from solotripping and glad to find an eddy. Thanks for having me. So Willis, your feeling frustrated, I know the condition well. This summer and I use that term loosely, has been the wettest I can remember, and when I could get away I couldn't bring myself to go when I knew it would be a drowned rat proposition.
If I may offer a couple of "on the other hand" considerations. Graduations are a occasion for congratulation! Good job Dad! You may remember that movie with Tom Hanks where he was on that desert island? And he had to knock out his tooth with an ice skate? No kidding, ever after that when I'm in the dentist chair and the needle with the novacane goes sliding in, I'm grateful.
Best Wishes, Rob

Welcome to the site Rob! The more we get to sign up the more fun we will have.

Thanks for the best wishes. I just picked up a used but immaculate pop-up camper. I plan to base camp and do a lot of day paddling. Possibly the weekend of the fourth. If not, I will leave the next Monday, the 6th for a few days.

I have not been out either because of the opposite conditions. It has been hot and dry. All the river are low and to shallow to paddle. Hopefully it is a wetter late summer or early fall because there are September and November trips in the works.

I was lucky to get out earlier this summer for 5 days in Maine. The trade off was I helped my daughter/son in law with some babysitting, 2 days before the trip and two days after....a 1 year old and a 2 year old, kept old Beavertail on his toes...haha, no time to kick back after the trip.

I usually go on a trip in August, but my wife was giving me some flack about going...."take a trip on the Housatonic" she moaned, ok, nice little river here in CT but not what you would call a trip to plan for.
Out of the blue, last week she told me to take 3 weeks and go where I want!

As I was saying before I deleted half my post, I plan on going to ZEC Kipawa (southwest Quebec) and put in at Hunters Point and head east thru a nice canoe route, before I turn around at Lac Aux Foins and head back, maybe 2 weeks- 15 days out and back.

41 years, I could never figure that woman out:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

She wants you out of the house for three weeks. Does she have a boyfriend?

All I have been able to do is a 3 day paddle up the Oswegatchie and back. I have a feeling I will not get much else in this season.

I know how you feel except I did get one trip in with my son and son-in-law but had to cancel my solo trip because of work……….Guess a couple days trout fishing are going to have to take care of it for me.

Maybe she does, I hope he leaves my other canoes alone while I'm away, and my chainsaw, and my John Deere, and oh yea, my two dogs.....
Heck, I might have to stay home now Willis, you got me worried he'll clean me out:rolleyes:
