Tom Foster's Classic Videos on Solo Whitewater Technique

Although I'm not a WW paddler Tom's videos were an inspiration to me to use my hull more to control my boat. Instead of doing it with my bow on WW, I'm doing it with the stern on flat water. I got what he was saying about always paddling in circles. Carving with your stern doesn't give you the dramatic results like with bow pinning but you can still carve circles. It's how you think about controlling (steering) your boat.

Last night I recorded a short paddle where I went from one circle to another. I wanted to see how round my circles were. These were all done paddling on the outside while leaning (carving) to the inside. They were done under power, my Strava showed 3.1 mph.

To add a little scale that paddle was 1/3 mile and took 6 minutes and 20 seconds.
