Well, the Swift P14 is outfitted completely to my taste and infirmity. Here’s what I’ve done to this, my heaviest boat:

• carbon fiber/aluminum foot brace
• Backsaver w/ Thermarest pad
• Swift seat pad
• waterproof lining holes
• removeable portage yoke

I include the yoke because portaging the canoe for any distance requires it, and it will always be mounted or tied to the canoe.

Total Load = 41 lbs.

Not too bad. Now I’m ready to beat the hell out of it.IMG_2375.jpeg

Yes, Exped KV. I traded my 56 lb NC P15 in blue steel for it. I don’t know when I’ll be able to load a 56 lb canoe again but not anytime soon. My enhancements added 5 lbs to the bare bones P14. Luckily, the seat is now tolerable. I was sweating having to change seats with the existing mounts. I still may try to restretch this one next off season.
