A cold early spring run across Nova Scotia in flooded forests, saturated grounds, portages with blowdowns and grabby huckleberry bushes all around, and whitewater descents of rocky rivers with mucho sweepers and strainers.

Good video.
I would never go solo in the spring with flood water, cold water temperatures and all of those downed trees and sweepers. I just don't like the odds.
Finding a cabin in the cold and wet can be a serious morale booster. It happened to me in British Columbia coming off of Chikloot Pass. We had sleet and snow and high winds for days. We were in rough shape. Then a wood stove and dry clothes and dry sleeping bags. It changed everything.
