The canoe in the video is a Blue Hole OCA, a design dating back to the mid 1970s. It is a Royalex canoe although it does have Blue Hole's trademark heavy aluminum gunwales and thwarts. Still a lot of these boats around today. The crank shaft paddle is pretty interesting.

I think that is the canoe we borrowed from a paddling friend for my first adult wilderness canoe trip. It was extremely heavy.

Yes, the original Blue Hole canoes used thick Royalex sheet. They were and are very tough, but also very heavy.
