Quebec Winter Carnival Ice Canoeing

Its quite fun but we wont make it this year.. We've been three times as spectators; one of those involved helping a tired crew out of the craft and hauling it up.. That is not something you do yourself! They are steel. The crew is manned with crampons

Now the prelims are held on a street but I think it was more interesting when they were done on the Plains of Abraham with jumps and bumps and obstacles

Note the use of inflatable PFD's
There used to be an entry from Chicago but they got hoplessly lost enroute to Levis on an outgoing tide and had to be rescued some three miles downstream by a tug. The current runs up to 15 kph They had lost sight of their destination due to the huge height of the ice floes. American embarrassment
