I will occasionally run into Canoetripping.net posts when doing searches that, when pursued, cannot be found on the forum. Were they deleted at some point, and a phantom record remains? Is it possible to recover the post?

That post is available in the link below as message number three in that thread. It may have been moved some time after the Bing search robot indexed the forum. The local search tool in this forum will usually give better results. Good luck,

Benson

Interesting that Bing says the post is from 2012 when Benson's link is from 2017.

I Googled the same search term and the first hit was the Canoetripping post that Benson linked and I had no problem accessing it. It correctly showed as 2017 in the search preview.

The Bing dates can't be trusted. 2012 is probably when Bing first indexed this forum. The oldest record of this site in the Wayback Machine archive is from April 19th, 2012. I just used Bing to search for my posts in this and the WCHA forum. None of the Bing dates were accurate. Some were newer and others were older. The article at https://www.billhartzer.com/bing/now-microsoft-bing-has-date-problem/ has more details. It appears that Google has struggled with this issue too.

I swear, that's the first thing I did, search within the forum. I must have fat fingered a word, as it didn't come up. Good advice on the Bing search engine, now dead to me.

I've found the forum search to be hit or miss. More than once I've had to resort to Google after the forum search failed. On Google you can end your search term with site:canoetripping.net and it will only show results from this forum.

Our XF search feature found the 2017 post using "curtis vagabond canoe renner" as did Google and DuckDuckGo for me.
