Hello folks,

Looking for a TR on the Paull. I did see some information provided by Michael (Paddling Pitt) but it appears the trip was shortened. I am trying to build 2 solo trips that I can use in the event I have staffing issues, as I did for the last 2 years. The Cree will most likely be one (thank you Erica) but another arrow in the quiver would be good. I searched around online and in myccr but not too much around. I know where it is, and Archer's book has a write-up, but her book "Northern Sask. Canoe Trips" is a bit dated.

Any info would be appreciated!

Do you have the Saskatchewan Government guides/map? They have two options for the Paull (both start from Paull Lake).

If you need them send me you email via DM.

I’ve done the Paul a number of times, the last was 9 years ago. It’s a great trip but it’s pretty popular and well travelled.
There’s a sweet beach/bench campsite on Paul lake on it’s west side that’s actually the preferred drop off spot if your flying in. Archer doesn’t include it in her trip note for some reason. It’s one of my favourites, walleye and blueberry’s abound. IMGP9505.JPGIMGP9464.JPGIMGP9541.JPG

Tuck falls is pretty notable as well and worth a nights camp for the vista, but the camp site isn’t the best. IMGP4726.JPG

“The Gorge” is another very scenic spot worth spending a long lunch at, not worth camping at though, there always seems to be lots of bear scat there.

Another decent camp spot is on McIntosh lake, high up on a rock point. It the weather is nice it’s a great place although it’s steepness was a little nerve wracking with the kids.

Once you hit the Churchill, there’s 2 ways you can go before Nipew. The north route seems to be the more popular one with some decent ww and camping , but the south route has more technical ww and more better camping. The south route leading into Crew in high water is pretty intense. I highly recommend it!

If you have the time and want to avoid chartering a plane there is a couple of routes that can get you into Paul lake, if you’re interested I can get you the details.

All the best in the new year and I hope you get to come see what North Sask has to offer!
