A fisherman caught, unhooked and quickly released a great white shark on a beach on Nantucket. One of our members plies these island waters in various canoes, kayaks and an outrigger.

Ok Glenn, I'll take the bait!

There are a lot more sharks out here then there used to be because the gray seal population has exploded, but I don't worry about sharks when I'm paddling. I try not to think about them when I'm surfing. I used to do some surf photography. I would put my camera in a waterproof housing and swim out into the break with fins and a wetsuit; basically dressing up exactly like a seal. That was freaky.

We don’t have great whites, but we do have some nasty ones, bull sharks and hammerheads. I caught and released a black tip shark in the Ten Thousand Islands. A kayaker hooked one of the big sharks in Estero Bay and it pulled him along like a toy.
