I have decided to part ways with my Northstar Polaris dedicated solo. I purchased it new in late 2023, arrived in March 2024. I paddled it for the season last year. It is a great boat, but not for me. Why not for me? I am used to our packboat-style boats. I thought I would give canoeing a try, but I'm a big guy and wanted to get a boat that would give me a good experience so that I could decide on the merits of the activity instead of dealing with a substandard boat giving me issues.
This boat has been fabulous. It has performed well at everything I asked it to do. it gave me a chance to experiment for a year and see if a canoe was the right choice for me. I have decided that it is not, but to be perfectly clear, it was not on account of this boat.
This is the Northstar Polaris, Blacklight layup, set up as a dedicated solo boat, with reinforced seat supports, foot brace, bow and stern carry loops, and aluminum trim. Extraordinarily lightweight, easy to paddle, tracks well. There are a few minor scuffs bow and stern from landing and launching, but no damage. Never river tripped, only flat water lakes.
I am in Southwestern PA, and willing to drive a bit to meet a more distant buyer. The canoe will come with at least one and possibly two brand-new unused small air bags for bow and stern, a strap-in back band, and two paddles (Fishell Ray Special and Bending Branches Explorer Plus).
I'm asking $2850 or best offer. I also have it posted on FB marketplace, but figured this may get some eyes that wouldn't see it there.
