I moved to wood/canvas canoes about seven years ago. I haven't had a dedicated solo in just as long. I found a Mohawk Solo 14 on Craigslist a couple weeks ago for 100 dollars and couldn't pass it up.

It is a fantastic hull. Fast and stable. Im not sure if it's Royalex or Royalite, but it is a pleasant surprise.i recommend picking one up if you are in the market

I was talking to Dave Curtis a few years ago and he mentioned that he made some of their hulls at his shop and shipped them to FL. I may be misremembering, but it's a fun thought.

Ah, so now I know who beat me to that Mohawk Solo 14 in Central NY that I tried to purchase a few weeks ago. ;)

I guess I can't complain, as I picked up a Mohawk Odyssey 15 earlier this summer for $150. I haven't soloed it yet, but I'm definitely interested in doing so given that it was sold in both solo and tandem configurations. I'm very pleased with it as a pocket tandem, though, and Mohawk's angled tumblehome (is there a proper word for that 'creased' hull shape?) is growing on me aesthetically.

Happy to hear you're enjoying your new boat!
