Well I didn’t hide it from the wife, but everything’s cool. I told her it was red so rescue aircraft can locate my camp easier. That seemed to satisfy her inquisitiveness. It’s been a while since I’ve hoisted a 60lb canoe. Gonna take some practice. First order of business (after the weather warms a tad) is to play with stern paddling with a hefty load. Can’t wait to scratch up that pretty bottom!

Nice boat. Looking at the seat placement I don't think you will have any problems paddling from the stern seat. Paddling from the bow seat backwards will create a lot of yaw, being that it is 35" wide there. I also don't think it will take much weight to get to a trim that works.

This is the midpoint between the seats where I intend to install a footbrace. I was worried about diminishing the capacity, but after thinking about it, my feet will be in the space regardless of which seat I occupy, so there’s really no loss in cargo space. The track will occupy a bit of room along the hull, but my dog won’t mind. Also, the stern seat is far enough forward to accommodate my Backsaver.

Very sweet boat ! Did you purchase it from a local dealer, or was it shipped from Canada (quebec)?

Noticed the location of the bow seat... Will you be using for solo tripping ?

Our school club brought a 16 footer last year, works quite well as a solo. Initial impressions.....even thought the specs are very similar to the Nova Craft prospector, it seemed smaller to me.

I think you rank right up there with the fella who has bought the most canoes and still remained married, must be some kind of award for that lol.

Purchased it from Minnesota Canoes. Rutabaga has one cheaper, but driving to Madison makes it more expensive than this was wity delivery.

My goal is to use it for solo tripping. I have to fit a blue barrel, two portage packs, a daypack, and my dog.

60# is a lot heavier than I remember. My stupid back is feeling the stress from hoisting, carrying it to the garage. Gonna play with it when it warms up. Lining holes will be an important modification to this tank.
