G-Flex for Gelcoat Repair

I am planning a trip with my Wenonah WWC-1 in about a month. I was thinking of covering a few areas of exposed cloth with G-Flex. Is this a good idea? If I use it should it be thickened?

I really just want to make it usable for now. When I get more time I may grind the old patches off the stems and make it look nicer.

It should work. I have used regular epoxy, thickened with sawdust, on a canoe with similar damage. Shaped it to fill some pretty deep holes, sanded it when dry, and repainted the entire hull, looked as good as new.
