We thought so too. We were ticketed for a tarp line around a tree in Juniper Springs National Forest. The ostensible reason was the potential for tree damage. I thought the ostensible reason silly

An excellent line I have found is spyderwire. It has a dyneema core with a polyester sheath. Designed for sailing rigging, so knots work great in many weather conditions. 1.8mm. 100ft spool is about $20 at westmarine.
