It's one of those weeks - highs in the humid 90's everyday and lows in the 70's at night that are miserable for camping anyway but I do feel for all the outfitters who will be losing at least a week of business.

Surprised to read that one fire is a controlled burn that flared up. Traditionally here, they do most controlled burns just before the rainy season going into fall/winter.

Do they allow mechanized firefighting like the Superscoopers in the BWCA?

As much as Canada has been on fire over the last few years I’m surprised they’re doing controlled burns at all. But admittedly my knowledge of forest management is lacking.

Hey Neo, you do realize that the BWCA isn’t in Canada right?

Why yes, I did remember that right after I hit Post Reply. Which is always the best time for such things. Regardless, it still seems pertinent so I’ll leave it as is.

My friend who just came out of BWCA says he saw no smoke. With so much of Ontario on fire, I suppose this closure is partially about firefighting resources being spread pretty thin.

Actually, I think that's relevant. As I understand it, we share firefighting resources with Canada to some degree. So that should be in mind.
