Some thing to think about, before you go on a canoe trip in the North Woods, where sometimes winter comes early.

Wow, scary stuff ... I guess any trip on water wilderness mid October or later can be risky. Glad he is ok.

It sounds like he didn't have a fire going when rescuers got there, what's up with that? The incident does reinforce the importance of an SOS device. I need to get one.
