    Canoe Theft While Traveling

I use Master Python Locks. They're available in several lengths and thicknesses. They cinch down snuggly having the added benefit of being a back-up to whatever type of strap or rope you use. I normally wrap two of them around the boat at the same spots as the straps are placed. As mentioned...

    Keeping stuff from freezing?

We used to insulate the tube on our camelbacks when we lived in AK. Wrapped in a layer of light weight foam or even the smaller bubbled bubble wrap it takes quite a while longer to freeze up. And if you blow most of the water back into the bag every time, after you drink, it works even better...

    Log cabin mildew

You might look into a product called Concrobium, http://concrobium.com Info here, http://concrobium.com/ I used it in an attic that had mold issues due to poor ventilation. They make it in several different products now. If you have a power source, you can rent a fogger which would work well...

    worthless cell phones

Plant and animal guides (apps), first aid guides, star guides - sure better than carry books. Photos and videos when not hauling a heavier camera. Lots of uses other than as a phone or text device. Airplane mode solves that issue if you don't want a disturbance. Certainly a personal choice...

    Adhesiveology

Another adhesive to explore would be 3M's VSB tapes. It's being used for some pretty varied uses. Pretty amazing stuff. People and companies are using it for mounting solar panels to van roof tops, attach panels on trailer frames and many other high-strength applications...

    PFD For Dogs?

Definitely a vest with a handle on it. My 35 lb. buddy jumped out once and it made it a lot easier getting him back in. I've used it to lift him into my pack canoe on muddy banks also. It keeps him and my boat cleaner. Plus it would make it easy to dip your handsome (and I mean handsome!) little...

    The 'Easy Rider' Decked Boat

Nice! A TS-1... I saw one for sale a year or so ago in New England. They still sell them - at $3900! Ouch!!! You don't see many of Easy Rider boats on the east coast, but I picked up one of their tandem kayaks, a Beluga S, last Autumn off Craigslist. It's the kevlar layup. It needs a...

Lows Lake, NY ADK's April trip

Robin, southcove certainly said it right. "Good on ya mate", take care of the psyche, as well as the body... " This part is just as important, if not more than the medical part. I hope you can fit in some more quality time enjoying Mother Nature's offerings before the long process starts.

    Minicel at BigBox stores

Yep nice and cheap in many stores now... BUT, some of the floor tiles can have quite a stink to them. Who knows what they're "off-gassing"? That could be a concern to some folks? Might not be a concern for canoe use but for inside use it might not be pleasant. Last time I bought some I...
