    No loon works ;) It looks like a rugged work vessel. I guess long portages are not enjoyfull. If there is no rot or broken parts and you have good storage it can be great to paddle for decades

    It sounds like Bruce knows what he is doing. I am really looking forward to your feedback when the blades are in the water. What boat do you paddle? Or boats. Many members seems to have more then one. The best paddle makers I know do paddle, do stuff with wood or carbon and did a number of paddles.

    Quality in the t formex was as far as i know never.much of a problem.. thier main focis has.been to build boats that last in a ww enviroment where as for example wenonah is more fociused on flatwater and portage weight. Mad river was mainly good beofre the merge into confluence..

    The mad river indypendence never occured to me as a river boat and never as a boat good fot 200 pound plus. There is not much secondary stability bevore i burry teh gunnel 2 inches under water. Then it sinks rather quickly. And i am 160 ish i thnik 80 ish kilo is more what i see on the scales...

    Not sure a out the wieght of the eggplant explorer it could be either kevlar of polyesther.. mr build those for many years. So weight is not fixed. They are close to your duckhunter.

    Cleaning flies in a composti boat i always could hanlde. Finding them on each rib taking the better part of 3 hrs. Convinced me..and if it saves me for taking care of the hull for a couple of years extra . I am in.

    I have a also a lady bag for the mistral. I can not remember it making anymore sound then uncovered. Is saves a lot of dead flies cleaning. Enjoy the paddling.

    Looking for advice on current Swift layups

    Red canoes are the fastest so good choice ;)) Swift layups are changing so fast so it is hard to know how itholds up after a season of 5 . But I guess both will do great..

    Wind

    Maybe we got them now over here. When i was younger it was much more windy. Especially in spring . Wind seems to be gone. Whe i was yonger i was paddling lots in the surfzone at the seashore. Now those waves are hard to find.
