I have never used a barrel. I wouldn’t even know where to buy one. Even if I knew where to buy one, the shipping to Alaska would probably be too expensive. I just pack my food in a portage pack.

My snack food is a large bag of M&Ms with peanuts mixed with a large bag of Reeces pieces.

I bought a Quetico pack, a portage pack liner, 2 canoe thwart bags, a padded seat bag, and an assortment of stuff sacks from 2L to 12 L. Great gear and very well made.

For tents, maps, etc., I use Thompsons Water Seal. Very inexpensive. A gallon will last a life time. I apply with a foam brush.
