Yup. This. Reported the original post.

Nice little canoe-centered (mostly) walkthrough here for those of us who couldn't attend.

    Installed Footbrace on P15

Just fyi the Wenonah footbrace is about half the cost of the Northstar version. Riveted only. Put one in my Rx Wilderness when I first got it. Pretty easy install even for non-mechanical me, though definitely a little nervewracking. Worked great. Don't have that boat anymore but the factory...

    Esquif Echo

Agree on the 1.0 or 2.0 question. And color. And gunwale material. Wenonah makes a removable yoke that attaches to the web seat. Not cheap, but should work. It is one of the two pictured here: https://wenonah.com/Items.aspx?id=59 Attaches right at the front of the seat and projects...

So what exactly is everyone up to in their non-boating hours?

Those are pretty cool. Love the patterns. Definitely providing some artsy possiblities.

    What the Shell?

Marmot Precip or an equivalent. Much like headlamps, I can't keep track of them and have several, including one that is always in my day pack (and probably another in my ditch bag). For paddling I like a splash jacket, and I find myself wearing them more and more often just as a shell...

    What the Shell?

This made me laugh. When I first started working in the Caribbean I couldn't figure out why all the old guys wore hardhats all the time. Then I found myself in one of the many coconut plantations when a coconut dropped. Got a hardhat myself the next day.

Headlamps. Do you guys use 'em?

Headlamps are one of those things I can never keep track of. Which is to say I've got a bunch but I have no idea where they are. That said, I can always lay my hands on at least two: one by the back door that I use for fetching firewood at night and one in my daypack for emergency lighting...

OK...How about the Wenonah Wilderness solo?

I've got a u/l Wilderness and previously had one in Rx. Good all around boat. Do I wish it was a little faster? Sure. A little turnier? Yes, that too. But as a package deal it works well for me. One thing to note that others haven't is the seat. It is adjustable for seated, kneeling, or...

    Wateree or Broad River, SC

Not directly familiar but lived in the area for a while. Wateree will feel much more remote and tends to have a pretty good floodplain. Stealth hammock camping along the shoreline would be your best bet if sandbars aren't available. The Broad goes through Columbia but does have rapids. Don't...

    Landing Pads Installed

My starting point for my statement was Euro rails, which I think more car manufacturers are starting to adopt. If they aren't widely adopted then I agree with you. But if Euro rails become the standard, and I think they should, then its on the rack manufacturers. Heck, ANY standard* is better...

So what exactly is everyone up to in their non-boating hours?

Good thread dredge. Winter time I alpine ski mostly. We're still mid-drought here in nothern New England, but its been way cold so the snowmakers have been able to pick up the slack. I'm on day 17 or 18 so far this ski season. This is Mt Sunapee (and Lake Sunapee), about a 45 minute drive...

    Splash cover

Not sure I like the velcro attachment. Wonder how its going to hold up to repeated on/off cycles, and to dirt and grime. Not sure there's a better way though either that wouldn't require drilling. Still, tempting. Would love to reduce wind drag.

    Landing Pads Installed

I've got landing pads on my 2024 Chevy Trailblazer which has those same Euro rails. Not really a huge fan of the combo since the landing pads stand so proud from the roofline. They do work, but I think Yakima (and Thule) should come up with a better solution.

Canoe Art: Paintings, Sketches, Sculpture, Architecture

I went to this last week with my wife. Sadly, it was too crowded to enjoy or even view the paintings despite the timed entries. Bummer.

ACA as well. At least last time I checked. I've bought two subies through the program. But I think you need to have been a member for a certain time before the pricing kicks in.

    Favo(u)rite Pastries While Wilderness Canoeing

Good call. I carry good chocolate for winter activities, but should make it year round. But rather than the whole bar, I eat it a square or two at a time when energy is low or I feel a chill creeping on.

How much have you paddled this year?

A little over 100 miles split about evenly between canoe and kayak. Almost all in 3-5 mile chunks. Most solo, some with my wife.
