    Rheaume Muskoka?

Hi folks, just wondering if anyone has any experience with a Rheaume Muskoka? I have one on layaway at Oak Orchard Canoe and hope to pick it up soon. Paddled one on the little test pond with my spouse of 52 years and we both were quite taken with it. It is an asymmetrical 16 footer and seems...

    Review of Rhéaume 16' Explorer

Rhéaume Canoes of Quebec makes cedar-canvas and, more recently, composite canoes. Historically, the company made most of its canoes for other brand labels such as Old Town, L.L.Bean, Eddie Bauer and American Trader. Now, they sell more of their canoes direct to the public under their own brand...

The New Swift/DY Redesign of the Dragonfly

Any Rheaumes there? Their fit and finish has always looked good to me as well.

    Review of Rhéaume 16' Explorer

If I recall correctly, Rhéaume bought out the leftovers of Mid-Canada Fibreglass (Scott, Bluewater, Impex Kayaks) plus private label work for various brands and that is how they got into the composite market. Prior to that acquisition they were strictly a niche w/c builder.

WTB - used lightweight solo canoe in the NE

I've test paddled and really enjoyed the Rheaume Reble, the Swift Cruiser series, and a Curtis nomad but just haven't found quite the right boat at the right price for what I can afford at the moment. If anyone is selling or has any hot leads, please let me know. I'm based in Rochester but...

    Review of Rhéaume 16' Explorer

These are common from many different manufacturers. I've never analyzed the physics involved but they show up regularly. I don't know about the other labels but Rhéaume only made the Koru and Stillwater models for Old Town from April of 2011 thru October of 2012. Benson

WTB - used lightweight solo canoe in the NE

Try a WildFIRE - hands down the most "fun to paddle" canoe ever IMHO! Much more maneuverable than any you mentioned, ideally paddled kneeling, great for a combo lake and river tripping, creekin', and joy paddling. The design was originally built by Bell but the mold was moved to NY and built by...

    Hi from NE Massachusetts

I just stopped by there the other day! Great shop with lots of boats! I’d driven by it a bunch but never had the time. Most are out of my league $ wise… but they did say they have an Esquif Echo in their demo fleet. I had the kid with me so I’ll need to go back. It’s a very tempting boat. The...

Paddlers and Snow Walkers Gathering, Thetford VT, October 13-15, 2023

...were full of great stuff. Seth Gibson (from Keewaydin Dunmore) contributed paddles and moccasins and a few other handmade goods that he had brought back from the north over the years, for example. Becky and Reid: @KeithA and Michael from White Rose paddling one of those pretty Rhéaume boats:

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

Did you get the Rheaume from Oak Orchard in Waterport? I see they started carrying them last year. Can I ask what led you to choose the Rheaume ?

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

Yes, I did. Several reasons. After checking with the other stores (Regis in Saranac Lake, Bay Creek in Webster, etc) they seemed to be the only store with much inventory. The Rheaumes seem to have the best weight to cost ratio as well. I talked to Hemlock Canoes and their boat would have...

    Brought home the new boat

Had planned to pick her up last week then covid happened so had to postpone. This is the Rheaume Prospector 17 in kevlar on my ladder rack trailer system. Yes, normally there is a stern rope, had just taken it off when I remembered I should get a pic.

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

I will have to get out to Waterport and check them out then. I had a cedar rib and plank Rheaume solo a few years ago that I was quite pleased with, I can only assume their composite boats share the same quality.

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

Welcome from PA. I get up to ADK’s fairly often, its about 8 hours to get to Cranberry Lake. I’ve never seen one of those canoes in real life, but it looks nice. I have a couple prospectors myself. I do have one of the Rheaume 5’ coffee tables in my manhut. Cheers, Barry

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

Another selling point for OOC was they offer lay-away so can make smaller payments over the winter and pick the boat up in the spring.

Hello from Rochester, NY, lots of time in the Adirondacks

Hello. We live near Rochester, NY but have a camp on Cranberry Lake in the Adirondacks. I have been a kayak camper & backpacker historically but now the kids and wife want to get out more with me so we're adding a Rheaume Prospector to the fleet. We're also involved in a high-adventure Scout...

The most you've ever paid for a canoe (buy or build)

I bought a Novacraft Cronje in Aramid Lite in 2019/2020. Closest dealer was in Quebec City - a 7 hour round trip for me. Headed out in August to test drive a few before settling on the Cronje. He did not have an aramid lite in stock and was quite intent on selling us this ridiculous 16' carbon...
