    Marshall lake maps and info

Memaquay, i just realized you are a bit of a celebrity of sorts and have a vast knowledge of various canoe loops. If it's not too much to ask, would you consider doing the same for the Steel River canoe loop you have posted on another canoe forum? After watching this loop in YT, i stumble upon...

    Canadian DIY supplies

I can vouch for Gerrit as i have recently purchased an UQ and Sil Tarp and found them both to be bomb proof. Attention to detail and construction is second to none. And yes, his pricing is terrific!

I realize this Trip Report is a few years old but i would really like to read this comprehensive report and see the photos. Is there another place this TR is available with the accompanying photos? Shame on Photo Bucket!

Just wanted follow up to say that thank you for the advice and link to Hogshop.ca. I spoke with Gerrit, who was very helpful, and ordered an goosedown UQ and a Sil Tarp - an absolute terrific guy to chat with. Thanks again!

    Look what i SAW

Thanks for all the help and comments! Glen, Wow, thank you very much for the detailed review and photo! I appreciate it very much. I think i will invest in the Silky Big Boy 2000 as this will cover most of my wood processing needs on canoe trips. Cheers!

    Look what i SAW

Or should i just go buy a Silky Zorin and cut 8" logs inn 35 seconds. Wow, amazing eh? I just noticed this model is for sale. Anyone have one of these lasers? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQYIzXq8uS8

    Look what i SAW

Got saws? What do you folks think about the Silky BigBoy 2000? Up to now i have been relying on the Bahco Laplander, and larger jobs (up to 6") go to the Agawa Canyon Borea21 saw. But ive been eyeballing the Silky BB 2000 for awhile now and was wondering about those of you that have personal...

    Fit to be tied

This is my set-up as well. I didnt think that tarp lines would do any damage, none that i have seen so far.

Algonquin Park secret lake hotspot - Freedom of Information Act used to find identity

The MNRF will never give up the location of the lake simply because they cant - the lake has no campsites and no maintained portage and th shoreline is choked with tag alders, cedar, and pine - too thick to even pitch a tent for the day.

    Fit to be tied

Do you think if i tied a 7/64 or 1/8th tarp line to a mature tree for two or three days it would kill the tree?

    Fit to be tied

The Sampson 7/64 Dyneema is about .50 per foot. But i have to buy 200 feet for free shipping. I think that's a good deal.

    Fit to be tied

Do you use 2mm or 3mm for the Glowwire?

    Fit to be tied

Ahh ok, i didn't know that. What did you pay for your 100' of Amsteel? I can also buy 180' of Zing-It 2.2mm for $63.51 shipped.

    Fit to be tied

Hey again, my fast weathered friends, Im having a wee bit of a dilemma. Im looking for about 100ft (or more) of cordage for ridge-lines and other outdoor tasks. It's between Amsteel Blue 1/8" and Dyneema 7/64". Do you any of you have a preference based on knot performance or otherwise...

    Warbonnet Ridgerunner

That MassDrop is not very friendly to those of us north of the border. I can buy that Snugpack Underblanket for $53CAD shipped free from Amazon, compared to Massdrop $48USD shipped which equals $59.17CAD. But that $59.17USD price does NOT include the brokerage and custom fees at the border...

    Warbonnet Ridgerunner

Well, after careful consideration I ended up buying this one - Warbonnet Blackbird XLC. Thanks Canotrouge! I'll use an insulated ground pad in between the two layers for now, and then perhaps invest in an affordable UQ (to me) like the one described above from Costco if needed. Thanks again for...

    Warbonnet Ridgerunner

Thanks or all the replies and tips, excellent intel! I signed up for the Hammock forums but there is a vetting period and im still waiting. I may have to look at getting a gathered hammock instead of a bridge style. I wanted the bridge style for the flat lay. Yes im aware that the gathered...

    Warbonnet Ridgerunner

No i haven't contacted them but i most certainly will Monday morning. And hey that's a great idea for a three quarter UQ. However, the Ridgerunner has a double layer on bottom to slide in a pad or whatever else you like. I would only consider an UQ if i thought i would use it during very cold...

Any Canadians purchase a WBRR? If so, which retailer did you use? Im looking to purchase this hammock but cant seem to locate a Canadian dealer who carries this brand. I would even entertain a used one. If you know of one for sale, please let me know. Also, for you seasoned hammock hangers...
