7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

Thank you! I hope you have a great memory! Lol. The canoe is wonderful and will handle some weather/wind as well. The ELA area is worth a trip! Plan to have a bit of time if you go to more than one area. Experimental Lakes area, links etc...

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

I had mice etc. chew through a Lowe Alpine bag and a Gregory Pack so I like something a little more bite proof now! At 7.4lbs I am thinking the Storm is too heavy for a 30lt container. Did look at using a few of these instead----...

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

The pictures wont do this place justice. I did need a better body to wiggle under the trees and around the rest!

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

Day 4 Ouch, the sun stroke is not as bad but the back is reminding me of previous adventures. It takes me a 1/2hr to get off the ground. Fun times. Last day out but doing a straight line back to the truck due to my condition. No extra side trips at this point. Still take in a few rock faces and...

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

Day 3 I am a mess. The heat/trip has killed me and I am suffering this morning. Not the way I would want to start the day. Need a long time to get moving. Time to start heading back as its more than a days travel to get out. I stay focused on the glass still water as I glide across the...

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

Day 2 Day two started half way across Winnange lake on the way to Buzzard Falls. A "few" Km of paddling and I was on the landing of Buzzard Falls. Nice Monument right in the center of everything to Wally Stewart. Was nicely done. Then on to the most interesting port of the trip. At 96m not...

7th trip report- ELA August long Weekend plus a Day

ELA Trip Report Day 1 August Long Weekend plus a day, ELA time! This time from the Winnange Lake park area. Took HWY 17 east of hwy 71 by 42 km and turned down a small access gravel road to get the west most finger of Stewart Lake. 50m port from the truck to the creek and we are in...

How much does your gear weigh

My ports are under 600m for the most part so a bit more weight is not too bad for a short time. The thing that kills me is the big steps down off the rock ledges etc. Need to be carefull with all the weight that I don't stress the back. The pack sits on the hips so that helps the shoulders and...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

Thanks YC for the link, I think I will try that on mine when I redo the tape job. Hans, I will try that with the multiply coats to get a better end product. Now I just need to get out on a real trip in the ELA....soon

    3 w/c canoes on a rack

That looks great! Better behave with all that weight on top. I use to climb the ice falls in Nipigon. You are in a great area for an adventure or two! Enjoy the trip and I hope you post pictures afterwards!!

How much does your gear weigh

I have a 37lbs 70lt drybag with a nice hipbelt and internal frame as well as a 19lbs Pelican 1450 case with a few days of food for the weekend adventures. (27lb empty) Canoe with 2x paddles, detachable yoke, and ropes, camera mount etc. is just at 35lbs. I could loose a few pounds to lighter...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

The bare metal bracket will leave marks in the kevlar/carbon fiber. My rails are a foamcore carbonfiber and the slippery finish provided very little grip with the bare aluminum brackets. After taping them, the yoke stays in place way better! A rubberized plastic spray should work great, what one...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

Just adding a pic of the Yoke and how it sits on the Kee15. I had to drill the holes in closer to the center to allow for the narrow hull and the coating/tape on the metal clamps help a huge amount with stopping it from slipping. And a better one of the map I hope...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

Makes for a great trip with the more interesting weather! The lightning did have my attention as I felt very exposed while being on the lake watching the show. Sat there for an hour waiting for it to blow past me. Glad you can enjoy the pictures, makes it way better to be able to see some of the...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

I had one bad fall on the wet rocks while setting up camp and I may have used the same name then! Lol Thanks Mihun09 has the right link for the Seagrim Route and the Rabbit River run is just 5min away too. Those two and the Caddy lake run are great weekend adventures! The detachable yoke is...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

Thanks everyone! Between the photobucket issue and the micro text size as a default here I am ready to call it quits with the reports for a bit. I deleted the photobucket album and re-did all the links so it should work now. If I could just change the text size from the xxsmall to something...

6th trip report - Seagrim Lake Route

Seagrim Lake Route Trip report #6 on the Seagram's Lake Route. 31km and 1530m of ports over two days this weekend. I seem to like the interesting weather and had hail, rain lightning, more rain, then crazy amounts of rain and some sunshine and wind and more of the great scenery that Manitoba...
