    A little different approach

This canoe had been advertised on CL for quite awhile. It would be an interesting project. https://portland.craigslist.org/wsc/spo/d/portland-16-ft-teak-canoe-1970s-pick-up/7614946626.html

    (Finally) starting from scratch.

20+ years ago I worked in a woodshop. I recall intentionally darkening some cherry. I think drain cleaner was used??? Anyway, looking forward to following along. I too have too many irons in the fire, but am interested in building a wood strip canoe.

    Favorite camp chair

We have been using Cascade Mountain Tech chairs and end tables for the last couple of years. You can get them cheaper through Amazon or Costco etc. https://cascademountaintech.com/collections/camp-furniture/products/ultralight-packable-high-back-camp-chair-with-sand-feet...

    Old serviceable canoes

It looks like a Tripper. Sellers descriptions are often inaccurate. My Tripper was listed ad a 17 foot fiberglass Old Town canoe. They were originally called Chipeweyan 17s. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/133564692846970/?ref=search&referral_code=null&referral_story_type=post It is...

    Narrowing a Tripper

Interesting experiment. My Tripper wiggles a little too when unloaded. Mine is an early version with only one thwart/yoke. Please let us know how it performs.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. Stripperguy, There is a lot of variety in central Washington. From natural mountain lakes like Walupt Lake, to small desert lakes formed from seepage from large reservoirs like the Potholes Reservoir. Potholes is not too bad, but it is large and if the wind...

Multi-Day Flat Water Options OR, WA, BC?

I agree, the Ross Lake campground reservation system is not great. We were windbound on Ten Mile island a few years ago. We were supposed to be on another campground about 8 miles down the lake. The wind never stopped, so we went for it. We had an unintentional swim and retreated back to 10...

I just got back into canoes about 6 years ago. I picked up a Wenonah 16 foot Fisherman (Adirondack). My son outgrew the bow seat so I replaced it with an Old Town Tripper last year. A favorite is Diablo/Ross Lake. We have made a couple of trips there. We also keep an old Coleman at our...
