A different sort of wilderness trip in a different and beautiful sort of terrain. If you like the Barren Lands, how about relatively vegetative barren lands ringed with precipitous mountains. A Wenonah possibly Prospector with duct tape skid plates, NRS dry bags, fighter jets, bad weather, portaging loch to loch, camping in a bothy, and a defeated destination that doesn't matter. Go Clan Cameron!

Here's another video by Jamie Barnes—a two canoe trip into two lochs in a sheltered glen in the Scottish Highlands. Snow is already cresting the Munros (mountains over 3,000 feet), and then the fickle wet weather of Scotland blows in a snowstorm, stopping the portage into the second loch. Good photography and beautiful mountain views.

Thanks much - very enjoyable. I have been to Scotland, the olde sod, 3 times bicycling and hiking. I would like to do a paddling trip. Clan Sinclair member for about the last 30 years.

Here's a third Jamie Barnes video of a paddle-portage loch circuit in the strikingly scenic and Edgar Allan Poe-ish weather of the Highlands, described thusly:

"In May 2022, I travelled to Scotland with Canadian long-distance paddler Martin Trahan to paddle a small but formidable route. However, a series of tribulations made our expedition even more challenging. This film documents our journey whilst exploring the reasons why canoeing is more than just a form of recreation but a way of finding purpose, identity, and perspective in an ever-changing world."
