We (read, my wife) mark our gear is various ways. 'Stuff' happens on long, big water trips, from crashed boats to simply leaving gear in the last camp.

I read quite a bit this winter, but just finished up a book called 'White Cargo' and it had quite an effect on me. Not a cheery, fun read, actually rather depressing...

The wife and I updated our bike/back/canoe tripping tent, sleeping bags and sleeping pads to ultralight offerings. Light and compact is always a good thing, our old gear wasn't terrible but it was definitely more MT oriented and less AZ. I'm having these Wee Lassie urges, I've had a great time...

'Condor' offers several classic knife designs in the $40ish range in high carbon steel and wood. Thier 'Nessmuk' rendition would make a good general purpose outdoor knife IMO and they have several bushcraft styles. Deciding on gift knives for budding outdoorsmen is a good problem to have :- )

Don't sell yourself short Mike :- ) Most folks drawing permits for the GC aren't SW boaters, a goodly percentile aren't even rafters per se' and outfit everything including the chow and do just fine. I've done trips with folks in that group and have had a great time. Even if folks are rafters...

I don't know about perks or if they rotate in and out, frankly I've never quizzed any of them up about it. I know it would not be a job for me haha By the time folks get to Lee's a lot of water has already passed under the bridge, along with time, money, emotions of all kinds and a whole soup...

I surely agree on summer peak season at the Ferry, no doubt chaotic for rangerettes fashionably attired in body armor, Sam Brown Batman belt, complete with Glock, Tazor and flex cuffs for a party of 16 in 100° plus weather :- ) Honesty though, just about the time I'm ready to go full metal...

It's always interesting to get folks reactions to their first trip :- ) It's sorta like sex, much anticipated and studied in advance and then many of the finer points are lost in the excitement of your first time haha ......I was kinda suprised you decided to swim Hance, there's a good dry run...

I haven't PBed yet :- ) I had my chance at Mexican Hat boat landing on the San Juan last year. A group came in view while I was guarding the flotilla, while some of our crew ran up the hill for a beer and ice refuel :- ) It was a interesting view, it looked like fit young woman in bikinis...

I went back and forth on this for three months before I bought back into canoeing haha and here recently a hardly used, stored inside, 15' Wenonah Prospector in green RX came up on the local market in the $500ish range with 2 Grey Owl paddles. Hopefully it sells fast so I don't have to muse...
