Lightweight Lining Ropes

I bought some HMPE cordage this summer off the internet. And clearly not the brand name good stuff. I wanted to try it and see.
The results were poor. I tried stringing up a tarp with it and found that it easily sliced through itself. I gave up on it just before I ended up with multiple pieces of short lengths of @&*$. I resorted to using up my long lengths of cheap box store poly pro normally set aside for lining etc. Not bad stuff. It floats, holds a knot reasonably well and has reflective bits in it. But I still need some tarp lines.
So in this off season I'll consider some Amsteel. Perhaps you get what you pay for.

I've had a good luck with Dutchware Zip-It cordage. It seems too lightweight to be useful but it's held up in some major wind gusts and 24 hour soaking rains. You can spend a small fortune on titanium tensioners but they sure are slick to use.
