I did my own and some farriery work for many years.  Very hard on the body, knees and back.  Then, getting stepped on was another occupational hazard.  Can’t imagine it’s a conditioning activity for anyone.  I think it degraded my body more than strengthening it.
At 67, with some orthopedic heath issues, I’m playing ping pong and walking, snowshoeing when able.  I used to work my upper body with exercise bands, but I’m avoiding that so my shoulder heals more completely.  I need to low impact it for a while.  Hoping to do some therapeutic paddling in March weather permitting.
