Yes, I stopped in and met with John while in Temagami once. He took me on a tour of his shop and permitted me to take a few photos. I submitted a thread of this somewhere here on CT. His work is well worth the visit if you are ever passing through this part of canoe country Ontario. John also trims canoes for his daughter's outfitting location Smoothwaters just north of town.

Thanks for sharing that video Jim, I just watched it and found it very interesting. I stopped there years ago but the shop was closed so I didn’t get to meet John. He reminds me a lot of mine and cheaseandbeans mentor, Schuyler Thomson, well spoken, speaks from years of experience and considers the wood canvas Peterborough/Chestnut Prospector the best canoe ever made.
