I hate these lists put on by various touring bureaus. To get from Portland to Flagstaff and its bad memories of inundating a town and displacing its residents is more than three hours. Yet Portland also has islands to paddle to within the city limits and camping islands at that. Not suitable for open canoes.. Suitable for decked canoes. the Islands are incredible.
