Besides painting, varnishing and new rails on some of my canoes, I have been busy with a couple of other shop projects. My wannigan which I always have along on wall tent trips is just too big, (24” x 14&1/2” x 12” high), I can’t handle the weight anymore. It makes a great little table inside or outside of the wall tent.
So I made a smaller box, just big enough to haul my kitchen gear, yet it should be big enough (18” x 12” x 12”) for a table. I’ll just spread out other gear to my Duluth pack(s)
I also hung up some new items in the shop, a nice map of Ontario for motivation and a beautiful “shadow box” containing hand tied streamer flys that was gifted to me by my good friend and fellow member here, Penn’s Woods. I’m a lucky guy to have someone think enough of me to gift me something that will not only give me pleasure but will no doubt grace one of my children’s wall down the road.
Finally, as a gunnel banger with a capital G, I’m joining the “wrap some leather around my shaft” crowd…no more banging my way across those quiet Canadian lakes!
