The bone remains of a sand shark were found in the mississippi river in minnesota. would a shark swim up the river all the way to minnesota? Not so sure if I'd want to paddle where there might be sharks.

Might be prehistoric when the Great Lakes were the Agassiz Sea.
I've paddled with sharks . Its cool.
Florida and Long Island Sound. Nurse sharks. We used to step on them when swimming .. they are that docile.

News report said a fisherman snagged the jaw (complete top and bottom) and reeled it in. Not a fossil and the fisherman said there was still some flesh on it. No one seems to have put forth any ideas yet on just how it got there.

someone probably dumped a carcass then, maybe as a prank. Never heard of sand sharks in fresh water, but bull sharks frequent fresh water rivers where they co-mingle with estuarine areas quite a bit throughout their range. http://www.sharks-world.com/bull_shark/

Bull sharks have been found 500 miles away from the ocean in rivers that meet the ocean. Seems they move farther all the time. Not sure how long they last. The sand shark could have been eaten by another fish or bird, could have been caught up in a boats propeller or otherwise carried by man, or sand sharks can go farther up the river then people suppose
