Just got back from The ADKs on my first trip with my Colden Nomad. This was lake trip and it performed very well. It handled a large load in windy and wavy conditions and makes a good rate of speed too. I look foreword to other lake trips with it. A side benefit is admiring it's beautiful lines when it's on shore and your in camp.

Sorry Turtle !
We need visual proof ! ;)

A trip report, even a short one without pics, is like pumpkin pie without whipped cream. Just kidding ! I like my pumpkin pie straight up !

I saw the pics.... neener neener.. ! It's easier unfortunately to load onto Facebook than a forum..which requires resizing. Maybe Turtle will get around to it...

Someone please refresh my memory in the Yost design sequence.

Solo Tripper (late 70’s. . . . .ask DougD)
Vagabond (early ‘80’s)
Nomad (later 80’s)
Kestrel (and/or maybe the Peregrine?) 90’s ?/dates?

Anything in that design lineage incorrect/overlooked?

sorry about no pics. there are some on WNY paddlers facebook page. Paul at Colden described the shape as sexy. I have to agree with him. It looks like it's moving when sitting on shore.

Not sure if all the Curtis came before or after the Sawyer. I think they were mingled but his trippers are all descended from the Solo Tripper
Swifts and Hemlocks and Placid came after Sawyer.
Bells 90 ish.. Loon Works were by Tom MacKenzie and cousins of some of the Bells though the former were traditional cedar rib construction with dacron instead of canvas.

I have owned some and paddled most of the above. For me, my Nomad is the best large lake tripper I have ever paddled. An interesting observation is that even though it does well in waves,it is noticeable faster on totally calm water. I timed it's speed by measuring how long floating objects went by. it's not a primo freestyle boat, but not real sticky. great for it's propose.
