New Book Available about the History of Boy Scout Canoeing in Canada

I cowrote a book that I'm sure would be of interest to Canoetripping members.



The book details the history of the Boy Scouts of America's canoe camping program in and around what became the Atikaki Provincial Wilderness Park of Manitoba, Canada. It features the maps and more of award-winning artist, Réal Bérard. Through first person accounts of paddling, rough portages, splendid fishing, and wildlife encounters, the book gives an insider look at this incredible program which served nearly 16,000 participants from 1972 through 2023. This history is great for adventure seekers.

All profits go to the Sommers Alumni Association for scholarships and such.

Chuck, since you are the co-author, I'm curious as to what your background is that motivated you to get involved in researching and writing on this subject. I know a lot of our members here got the "canoe bug" from their childhood or teen exposures to canoeing in Boy Scouts or from other summer camp experiences that included canoe tripping.
