Financial grants, typically around $500, are available from the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (WCHA) "to assist with the funding of activities by individuals or institutions whose efforts are consistent with the mission of WCHA—preserving, studying, building, restoring wooden canoes, and disseminating information about canoeing heritage in North America."

In my 2.5 years on the Board of Directors, I have seen grants approved for museum exhibits and for a very rare build of a historic wooden boat. Routine builds or restorations of common canoes will not qualify. But keep in mind this grant opportunity for historically meaningful, educational, or other qualifying projects relating to wooden canoes.
