My dog Jake and I have been longing for some canoe time - so we took a break from gathering timber for next year and racked the canoe for some exploring time - it was awesome! Man it was good to be back in the woods and water with my best buddy exploring and rubbernecking.
Jake really wanted to hit the trail early, but I told him I had to get some paddling in first ... he was not too impressed ...
Finally we practiced our first portage - he was so excited to run some new timber, we actually found a deer with antlers still attached ...
But almost everything else was missing.
Jake also found a doe that did not make the winter either.
Eventually we headed back to the canoe for more back water cruising.
What a great day - we can not wait for better weather and the Quetico this Spring. Happy paddling to you all.
