We've discussed Burt Reynold's glued-together fake "Deliverance" canoe in this post, which has a link to @Murat V's blog post on the fake.

 
Interesting to note that a particular scene required the stunt men to run a certain rapid. They refused, citing the danger.
Burt Reynolds himself stepped up and said he would run that section, breaking his coccyx in the process. But the cinematographers got the shot!!
 
According to Benson's research, he found records of seven 16' Old Town Guides shipped to the Warner Brothers Unit Production Manager between April and June, 1971, c/o this motel:
