Lake Vs. River trip

I've never paddled ww, so I really don't know what I'm missing. Meandering streams and small rivers take me from one lake to another, more or less. Beaver dams are a fun and brief respite from the lazy flow, at least the first half dozen lift overs are...I love the flat waters of lake travel the most, especially smaller ones; they seem secretive and remote. Hidden bays and lily pad shallows, coax me to slow down, listen quietly, and explore. Clear starry nights, dazzling autumn colours, and moody misty mornings keep me going back. I used to go for the "adventure", but now go for the solitude. Brad

I like lakes. Little lakes with lots of twisty bays. Those are places for poking and there's always somewhere to mosey.
